| 51.
Arrange your life so that you have half an hour or more for each meal.
Don't rush the meal. Chew slowly and take time to taste the food before
you swallow.
52. Thank your Maker
every morning
for giving you the privilege to experience another day.
53. Ride a bicycle
just for the pleasure
of it.
54. Think of foolish
things you have
done in the past and laugh at yourself.
55. Take a dance
class.
56. Paint your place
or decorate it
with new pictures, new furniture or new cushion covers. Use colours
that
bring a smile to your lips.
57. Take notice of
the people you
meet as you go about your day. Smile and make small talk with the
newspaper
vendor on your corner, the woman who sells you your train ticket, the
guy
who hands you your coffee at the doughnut shop.
58. Make funny faces
while looking
at yourself in a mirror.
59. Bring to mind
someone with whom
you are angry; say within yourself that you forgive this person his or
her behaviour. Picture the dividing wall between you and that person
dissolving
before your eyes. Write, call up or visit that person and start your
relationship
afresh.
60. Read an
inspirational or motivational
book.
61. Join a gym.
62. Get back in
touch with your old
school buddies, even if it is just to e-mail them once a year to say
hello.
63. Pop some
popcorn, turn down the
lights and watch your favourite, joy-inspiring movie.
64. Do cartwheels.
65. When you are
doing routine work
that is uninteresting or does not require concentration, sing, hum or
whistle
your way through it. Enjoy making and listening to that sound.
66. Take some cans
of food to the
local food bank.
67. Clear your
closet of old, worn-out
clothes that make you look frumpy. Promise yourself to dress yourself
the
best you can.
68. Learn to play an
instrument.
69. Say hello to and
smile with complete
strangers as you pass them by.
70. Write down your
memories of all
the times you have been challenged by life and have had to be strong;
recount
and celebrate your every triumph.
71. Make and fly a
kite.
72. Sit for a while
in the bus or
train station or airport or park and just watch people as they interact
with each other.
73. In the bath or
shower, slow down
and pay attention to the sensation of the water caressing your skin.
74. Put on your
favourite up-beat
music and shake your body to the rhythm without worrying about how you
look.
75. Learn a new
language. Expose yourself
to it as far as possible: make friends with those who speak it; try out
their food and music; go to the neighbourhoods or countries where your
new language is spoken.
